The city-palace of medina Azahara, built by Abedrramán in the 10th century, is located at 8 km from Cordoba. It is one of the most important archaeological sets in Europe. It hosted approximately 15000 inhabitants and its fame is due to its luxury, strict structuring, and beautiful gardens. We will walk through its streets and we will get to know the High Terrace, where some of the Omeya’s Caliphs lived, and the Low Terrace, where palaces, rest areas, and structures of power representation, like the Great Eastern Arcade, can be found. Lastly, we will visit the Visitor Reception Center, awarded with renowned architectural prize Aga Khah in 2009.
